Nello spazio urbano, l'emergenza stimola alla costruzione di pratiche, spazi e strumenti a difesa di ciò che è imprevedibile. Più che in altri ambienti, è nella città che l'imprevisto minaccia il benessere e la stabilità della comunità. Quando l'incerto inatteso si manifesta, diviene emergenza, e spesso è accompagnato da un allarme acustico o visivo, richiamo alla cittadinanza al comportamento di prevenzione e guardia rispetto al potenziale pericolo. Fronteggiare l'emergenza è una questione di scelte di esercizio di potere ma, allarme rosso, i modi di prevenirla possono anche rispondere a specifiche, mirate strategie politiche.

Never admit defeat. Never. Even if you full-on fucked up that head — therapize them and offer unmitigated reassurance. Talk that asymmetrical miscalculation, all the way to the receptionist — all the way to their car if you have to (pro tip number 6 can come in handy here). Oh and as a preemptive measure, get yourself an understudy. Actually, train a bevy of understudies and get ready to pawn off those fussbudget clients.
